I do not think it would be 10,000 primary. Probably around 3000 ~ 5000 primary applications. But if you consider dependents yes we may be talking about nearly 10,000 EB2I visas.

1. Visa recapture gives 500K visas to EB in total, or about 143K visas on top of 40K visas. So for that year there will be enough to clear the entire existing backlog. Also there will be another 140K visas coming from EB1, another 140k from EB2 will drip down to EB3. So if you count again, it is very beneficial to go after 500K visas than 50K visas.
2. This DV bill will not see the day of life.. It is dead on arrival.. There is a reason for DV visas and that reason still exists..
3. IV Core is more involved than we all know.. So I guess throwing mud at them is not fair anytime.. It is not possible to inform every thing to everybody always.. That will remain a fact going forward..

Infact i was looking for someone to start something in this vein and had to wait till now. Tell me something please, would a campaign involve asking every one who comes in to IV forum for donations for the campaign. The reason i ask is because to run a campaign for this effort is a great idea and I have some thoughts on it but most importantly i would need the help of all the members EB2/EB3 (yes even the ones who abused me) because you guys have experience in it.
My opinion is that if we run a campaign it would have to be with a slogan that if and only if this bill gets passed the DV visas will fall to the badly retrogressed apps first. If we say that the regular recapture way wil be implemented then i think this campaign is a dead duck before even starting.
I have an idea which might or might not work but i feel that IV needs to start a disclaimer for any campaign which will state that this is the path to be taken (and of course stick with the path) and state that X % is the chance of success and that these specific situations have to occurr for any chance of the bill succeding, I mean like a flow chart and also specific tasks which have to be done by people willing to participate in the campaign. Now i do not know if you (And only you because you talk sense. If any body else want to comment with logic and way to improve they are welcome. Abusers wil be ignored) have got the sense of what i am saying but as a person who is looking at IV from the outside everything i have proposed above is based on certain hard facts which are formed as a result of my deductions by observing IV all these years

A personal effort by each and every member of IV to show civilized behaviour and make civilized conversation is a mandatory requirement. In fact (i know i wil get laughed at and ridiculed for this but) a post by each and every donor and senior member taking an oath that no matter what the provocation they will not abuse anyone on the forum will be the first step. This can also be part of new member sign up. I didn't generalize. I said preponderence meaning "a lot of" cases with L1/B1/H1 and I am also not denying the fact the India is doing a great job in producing IT skills in great numbers. I am saying how they end up in America in greater numbers than any other country. China, Pakistan, Israel also produces lots of IT gradutes but they don't have the bodyshop connection to land here with an NIIT certificate.

I don't think USCIS has any idea as to how much "enough" visa they have....They function randomly...so plz dont draw any conclusions from who is getting a GC now. It could be the last person filed with latest PD while everyone else waits for their GC!

I still fail to see how country caps on Employment Based immigration serve the purpose of diversity. Look, people from India/China with H1B visas and pending AOS applications are already here, right? They are here and will be here regardless of whether they get GCs now or after 10 years. Many of them bought houses, have families, American born kids. How making them wait for years is gonna serve the purpose of diversity? You think if an Indian guy will be using AC21/EAD for years, going to finger printing every year, going through secondary security check on airports, in time he is gonna evolve into something less Indian? It's gonna be the same people but with different documents in their pockets.
For diversity purposes there is lottery, and the purpose of that lottery is exactly that - the diversity. Also, if the government wants diversity, they should have immigration program like Canada has. Where people are issued permanent residency BEFORE coming to the country and spending years working for that country.

Ms. Lofgren warned that the federal government could face costly litigation because of its change of course.
The State Department said it would begin accepting applications on Oct. 1 for 2008 visas. On July 30, the immigration agency will raise its processing fees by an average of 66 percent.
The outcry was provoked by a terse announcement on Monday in which the State Department said it would not grant any more visas for the 2007 fiscal year to foreigners applying to become permanent residents based on their job skills. That notice reversed one the department had issued on June 13 announcing a two-month window starting July 2 for aspiring, high-skilled immigrants from around the world to present applications for visas known as green cards.
The State Department said the 60,000 visas it had expected to offer would no longer be available because of �sudden backlog reduction efforts� by Citizenship and Immigration Services, the federal agency that processes applications for the visas offered by the department.
In a statement yesterday, the American Immigration Lawyers Association accused the two agencies of perpetrating a �hoax� and a �bait and switch� against hopeful legal immigrants who played by the book.

I have been following this thread for last couple of days and I feel I need to make few points. I remember when this amway/qucikstar thing started several of my close friends got entangled and tried to involve me. However, every time I bailed myself out by clearly mentioning to them "Right now, making lot of money is not in my top priorities. I want to focus on my carrier." Fortunately, I was able to fend off the proposals and clearly make my point.
In this thread, several of you are mentioning to ridicule, diminish, embarrass, and even socially out casting an amway/quickstar member. I feel its going a little bit too far. If you dont like to be in the amway/quickstar business stay clear of it, nobody will be able to force you in it. Setting up anti-amway websites, sharing names of the "bugging" amway members, distributing their phone numbers, and destroying their social reputation is harming the person personally, not the amway/quickstar business. We all know by now the amway/quickstar is a scam, majority of its signed members end up losing valuable time and money. How do you feel if some of your mentioned action emotionally push a distressed person off the cliff. Think about it a bit !!!

People can loose a lot of money in this "business"... 20K in 4 years is petty... literally.
Once you achieve some level in this business, your "uplines" start pestering you to do 300PV every month instead of 100PV. Each PV is about $2.50 + tax + Shipping so 300PV = $800 a month. Most of this $800 stuff is at least with 300% markup and many of the things that we didn't need. So even if we take $200 as waste out of $800, in 4 years, I lost $200x12x4 = $9,600

Thanks for explaining how this works!! I only avoided them and never heard their pitches, but looks like they go through an awful lot. No wonder why they keep at it even if everyone avoids them like plague. Now I am feeling sorry for all the cold shoulders that i gave them so far. Anyway, those ppl have reduced in the bay area somewhat..I am here since more than ten years now and I have seen that the folks that keep pestering me out in the malls, Kohls, Target etc are dwindling. Maybe they are coming to their senses and learning that there are decent ways to earn money.
Having said all these, someone was suggesting that we maintain a central database and malign them further. Thats pure evil man! Why go to these extremes? Just ignore them and they will go their way - yeah they are a nuisance, but nothing more, right? They are still humans!

Tamils live the same life as Sinhala and Muslims, if you're visited sri lanka you would see that. Schools are open to everyone within their respective distances, tamils conduct business same as muslims and sinhala. What you're discussing is something that happened when the country was given independance and the sinhala policy came into act. This is not the case anymore in sri lanka, if it was all the tamils in the country would have moved to the north where their so called saviors were fighting.

Please send this letter, It is just 5 minutes job. We should add US Secretary of the Treasury, Mr Henry Paulson.
I think we should send a hard copy too, If you send a hard copy of the letter, you receive the response for sure.
They should give us a condtional GC that if you buy a house in a year then your conditional GC would be a permanent otherwise it will be rejected after one year.
